Additional Chicago Blackhawks Info

The Chicago Blackhawks were founded in 1926 by Major Frederic McLaughlin. McLaughlin was a commander of an infantry division in World War I that called themselves the Blackhawks, so he named his new team in honor of them.

The team’s original logo was designed by McLaughlin’s wife, Irene. The Chicago Blackhawks’ current logo is widely considered to be one of the best in all of professional sports. The logo is painted on the floor of the team’s clubhouse and is held sacred. No one steps on it and it’s illuminated at all times.

Chicago Blackhawks Ticket Holders have been fortunate enough to see the team revolutionize the game and perform awe-inspiring feats over the decades. For example, in 1948 goalie Emile Francis was the first to use a modified first baseman’s glove against the Red Wings, which changed the goal tender position forever. In 1952, Blackhawks fans witnessed the iconic Bill Mosienko score a hat trick against the Rangers in just 21 seconds—an near impossible accomplishment.

The team’s success continued into the next decade when in 1961, they won their third Stanley Cup and in 1964 they set an NHL record for most consecutive home game wins. Unfortunately, they would soon enter a decades-long slump.

Despite the slump, fans stayed loyal. In fact, Chicago Blackhawks Ticket Holders packed the United Center, the team’s home stadium, throughout the 1990s. The team averaged more than 20,000 fans in attendance per game.

Chicago Blackhawks Ticket Holders saw their team come back to life in the new millennium. The team won the Stanley Cup in 2010, 2013, and 2015, for a total of six Stanley Cup wins for the franchise.
